Purpose
To ensure consistent copy quality, reduce avoidable part replacements, and maintain optimal machine performance, the Print Manager will conduct a monthly walkthrough of all Multi-Function Devices (MFDs). This process includes visual inspection, printing test pages, and completing a detailed Copy Quality Checklist.
Scope
This SOP applies to all MFDs (Konica Minolta or otherwise) onboard Azamara vessels managed by DG3.
Responsibilities
Print Manager is responsible for:
Visiting each MFD onboard once per month.
Printing a test page from each machine.
Completing the Copy Quality Checklist.
Flagging any part concerns, copy quality issues, or consistent errors.
Procedure
Schedule the Walkthrough
- Conduct walkthrough during the first week of each month.
- Coordinate timing with Print Shop schedule to avoid disrupting high-volume print jobs.
Inspect Each MFD
- Note machine brand, model, ship, and location.
- Print a Test Page (color and mono if applicable).
- Visually inspect the print for any copy quality issues using the checklist criteria.
- Record any findings or anomalies.
Complete the Checklist - Use the attached Link - Copy Quality Checklist to evaluate:
- Streaks, fading, registration, ghosting, and other quality issues.
- Machine status (error codes, part counter if accessible).
- Mark all fields clearly. If issues are found, document next steps.
Follow up
- If parts are flagged for future replacement, leave a note with estimated timing and supporting info.
