Job Summary: As the Manager of Print Services and Communications, you'll lead our team across various client platforms to ensure smooth communication systems and top-notch printed materials onboard cruise ships. Your role is crucial in upholding corporate standards and enhancing the customer experience. You'll be hands-on with maintaining and repairing machinery, handling any technical issues, and managing inventory to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. This position combines leadership, technical skills, and a commitment to quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Management:
- Lead and mentor all crew members across our client platforms, including the Traveling Communications Manager, CEL Printer Specialist, Azamara Print Managers and RCCL Printer Specialist.
- Coordinate schedules, tasks, and responsibilities among team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide continuous feedback.
- Ensure adherence to company protocols and procedures.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Develop and implement strategic goals and initiatives for the team.
- Operational Oversight:
- Ensure all printed materials adhere to corporate marketing standards across all our clients.
- Optimize workflows and manage communication systems onboard.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all printing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Participate in all clients' new builds, refreshes, and dry docks, ensuring seamless operational transitions.
- Manage troubleshooting processes and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Inventory and Quality Control:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels for printing supplies and equipment shipboard.
- Implement inventory management strategies to minimize waste and ensure timely replenishment.
- Maintain high standards for print quality and operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure compliance with DG3 standards.
- Develop and enforce inventory control policies and procedures.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and implement training programs for team members on equipment usage, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Stay updated with the latest printing technologies and methods, incorporating relevant advancements into the team’s operations.
- Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to enhance team skills.
- Provide continuous learning opportunities and career development paths for team members.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Liaise with department leaders to gather and prepare messaging for printed materials.
- Ensure clear and consistent communication within DG3 support system, the shipboard team and with other shipboard leadership.
- Provide excellent customer service and address any issues promptly.
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain open lines of communication with clients and stakeholders to ensure their needs are met.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze data to optimize inventory levels, printing processes, and overall efficiency.
- Generate regular reports on team performance, inventory usage, click revenue and operational issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Track and report key performance indicators to senior management.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within communication or printing operations.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, PDF management, and Microsoft Suite.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Prior experience on cruise ships preferred.
- Technical skills in digital printing and equipment repair are highly desirable.
Work Environment: This position requires working onboard cruise ships, with contracts typically lasting seven months. All meals, boarding, and health care are provided onboard. The role involves physical activity, including lifting and relocating equipment and materials.
