Calibration c4070 & c4080 with Fiery Follow
Description:
Machine calibration is a precise adjustment process. We meticulously modify the settings of our Konica Minolta production machines according to established guidelines. This ensures consistent and accurate color reproduction and image quality. By adhering to these standards, we ensure that our printed outputs consistently meet the highest quality expectations, resulting in customer satisfaction.
Process:
Preparation:
- Ensure that the Konica Minolta production machines are not in use during the calibration process.
- Gather the necessary calibration tools and materials, including color calibration charts and any other recommended equipment.
Machine Setup:
- Power on the machines and allow them to warm up as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Check that the machines are in proper working condition and have the required supplies (toner, paper, etc.).
Calibration Process:
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for initiating the calibration process on both the Konica Minolta 3070, 4070 & 4080 machines.
- Use the provided calibration charts and tools to adjust color, alignment, and other settings as needed.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and ensure that you complete all required steps of the calibration process accurately.
Verification:
- Print a test page or sample document to verify that the calibration adjustments have been applied successfully.
- Compare the printed output to a reference standard to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Documentation:
- Record the calibration results, including any adjustments made and the date of calibration, in a dedicated log or digital record.
- Attach a sample of the printed output to the documentation for future reference.
- Maintain the printed copy of the calibration report in a designated folder in the print shop for a period of at least 6 months.
Guest Services Audit:
- Note that this procedure is a part of the Guest Services Audit and is essential for maintaining high-quality print services for guests.
Compliance with Konica Minolta Calibration Standards & Guidelines:
- Ensure that the calibration process is carried out in strict compliance with the Konica Minolta calibration standards and guidelines to achieve accurate and consistent results.
Presentation:
- Compile the weekly calibration results along with the inventory data.
- Highlight any notable changes, improvements, or issues identified during the calibration process.
Notes:
Regular calibration ensures that the Konica Minolta production machines maintain optimal print quality and consistency. It is important to follow manufacturer guidelines and keep detailed records of each calibration session for quality control and analysis.
Procedures
Please follow the below steps.
1. Open Fiery CWS and press Calibrate
2. Create calibration and press Next
3. Create a calibration name and press Next
4. Patch Layout Printing – Instrument: EFI ES-2000 / Patch set: 21 random / Chart size: 8.5x11 then Print
5. Choose CMYK for Color Mode and Uncoated for Output Profile then press OK
6. Print the page on Letter Size paper
- Remove the yellow sticker covering the sensor - Slide down the cover of the cradle
7. Place the EFI ES-2000 in the Calibration cradle and click Next
8. Put the calibration page to the tray and place the ES-2000 to the slide guide.

Use the spectrophotometer (EFI ES-2000) to measure each stripe (1, 2, 3 & 4) pressing the button on the side, as the screen will indicate. A beep sound will indicate good to go. At the end of each stripe you will get a green light (correctly measured) or a red light (measure again) on the spectrophotometer.
9. Once you finish measuring all the stripes (1-4) press Next and print Test Page then press OK
10. Once you close the Calibration window in Fiery, go to your machine to Service Mode (Utility Counter –
Stop00Stop01) and press option 11 Test Mode.
11. Press option 02 Test Pattern Output Mode.
12. Press Test Pattern and enter 43 on the numberpad and press Set. Then press Gradiation-Y, Gradiation-M, Gradiation-C, Gradiation-K, and Set all of the Gradiation to 190.
13. Press Print Mode on the bottom part of the screen and select 11x17 paper. Make sure the tray has paper and that full Color is selected.
14. Once it says Ready to Print, press Start.
Check the pages printed for any lines, spots or color or printing error to make sure the machine is working well. Get out of Service Mode and staple your Test Print with your Test Pattern Pages. Repeat the process for each machine you have.
