Cabin Accommodations Follow
Space is limited onboard cruise ships. The cabins are small and shared with another employee. Overnight visitors to cabins are prohibited.
It is important to keep the cabin clean and organized at all times. Regular cabin inspections are held by onboard ship management to ensure that crew cabins are well-kept and maintained, and do not contain illegal substances. Employees are required to give due consideration to their cabin mates. Please be considerate of different cultural backgrounds and be respectful at all times.
The Shipboard Management, or the ship’s HR Center, will assign employee cabins. Any cabin changes must be authorized by Shipboard Management before taking place.
The following additional rules apply to every employee:
- Employees may not use any steady open flame (e.g. candles).
- Employees must abide by the smoking policies onboard his/her vessel.
- Employees may only use approved wastebaskets.
- Employees are not allowed to build extra shelves, furniture, etc.
- Employees may not move from their original positions or remove them from their cabins, appliances, furniture or other fixtures, including telephones, TVs, VCRs, stereos, and refrigerators.
- Employees may not place any tapestries, carpets, posters, wallpaper or other materials on the cabin walls or doors unless approved by the Staff Captain.
- Employees may not paint or damage cabin walls, doors, furniture or fixtures.
- Employees may not use any appliances not provided in the cabin, unless they obtain approval from the Staff Captain.
- Employees may not install or alter any electrical appliances such as telephones, heaters, computers, or coffee machines, unless they obtain approval from the Chief Electrical Engineer.
- Employees may not use ‘multi-outlet power strips’ or electrical converters, unless they obtain approval from the Chief Electrical Engineer.
- Lifejackets must always remain in employees’ cabins, unless the lifejackets are being used.
- Employees must keep noise to a level which will not disturb others.
- Employees may not cook in employee cabins.
- Employees may not change cabin assignments, unless approved by the shipboard HR Center.
- Employees may not have pets of any kind on the ship.
- Employees must use only approved chemicals for cleaning their rooms.
- Employees consent to the inspection of their cabins to ensure compliance with these Cabin Rules and to ensure that Cabin conditions do not compromise the sanitation, safety, security, maintenance, or repair of the ship.
Cabin Safety
The employees’ cabins should always remain locked. Your cabin is your home; please always secure it. Monies and valuable possessions should always be kept locked and secured. Safety deposit boxes may be available onboard for cash and valuables. The Company is not responsible for any money or items lost or stolen. Wiring money home or to your bank account is recommended while onboard.
