Illness or Injury Follow
The Company provides benefits in accordance with applicable law to employees who incur an illness or injury while in the service of the ship as follows:
- Employees must report to the medical center for all injuries and illnesses (except for injuries that can be treated with local first aid). Employees are also required to report all injuries and illnesses, no matter how minor, to the medical center, the Chief of Security or their supervisor.
- Illnesses and injuries may be investigated by the Company to the extent it deems necessary in its sole and absolute discretion.
- Employees will receive a maintenance payment with respect to illnesses and injuries incurred while the employee is in the service of the ship in accordance with applicable laws, treaties, and Company policies.
- Employees who are unable to report to work due to illness or injury must have written documentation from the medical center stating that the employee is unfit for duty. Employees must notify their supervisors of any illness or injury as soon as possible before the start of their scheduled shift.
- Employees who incur an illness or injury while working must notify their supervisors, who may send them to the medical center for treatment. Employees who are unable to perform their normal duties may be released by the medical center from the rest of their shift. The medical center will provide these employees with a written release from work that the employees must provide to their supervisors.
- Employees are required to attend all follow up medical appointments recommended by the doctor on board.
- Employees are required to remain off duty until the doctor onboard releases the employee from medical care and deems the employee fit for full duty.
