New Pre-Travel Testing Protocol COVID-19 [RCCL] Follow
Based on the latest data around the status of COVID-19 cases and related global regulations, RCCL removed all COVID-19 pre-travel testing requirements for joining crew. Effective July 27, 2022, crew members joining Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises ships will ONLY need to get tested prior travelling when required by their travel itinerary.
Important to Know
- Always check with your airline if COVID-19 testing is required to board your flight and follow their requirements.
- If your itinerary does not require COVID-19 testing, you don’t need to test before leaving home
- Continue to follow all other safety protocols, such as keeping physical distancing when possible and wearing a mask in crowded spaces.
- If within 48 hours of traveling, you experience any symptoms that could be associated with COVID19, please get tested and upload your results. If you test positive, contact your crewing agency to cancel your travel.
- Some countries may require you to fill out an online health form before boarding your flight and/or to present proof of COVID-19 vaccination, the airline should provide you with this information as well.
- All crew members will continue being tested at the pier prior to sign-on to vessels.

Will the company cover the cost of COVID-19 testing required by the airline?
Yes, the company will cover the cost of any COVID-19 test required to travel to join your vessel. If you take your test in one of our approved medical facilities, we will cover the cost directly. If you choose to get tested at a different facility, please follow the regular expense reimbursement process. The amount reimbursable is based on the standard rate for authorized vendors in your region, plus a small allowable variance.
I have a letter of recovery issued by my doctor; can I use it instead of the test required by the airline?
Some countries accept recovery letters instead of testing, you should check with the airline to determine if this is an option for you.
Will I be tested at all before boarding?
Yes, crew members will continue being tested at the pier prior to sign-on.
